Internet Wireless access



DIC offers wireless Internet access in all ULBS teaching locations as well as certain student dormitories. You need MyAccount to connect or your home university account if it's affiliated to eduroam Federation.

The wireless service of ULBS is connected to the EduRoam network. The name of the access points is "eduroam". ULBS students and teachers can log in using their ULBS MyAccount user and password through a special software. The transfer between the ULBS HotSpots and the client is encrypted.

Wireless service can also be accessed through "ULBS_Wireless" access points with temporary authentication through the web captive portal.

Within an affiliated institution
You can access the Eduroam network within an Eduroam affiliated institution using the same username and password as within the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu.

Configuration

If you do not have a ULBS MyAccount, you will need to register here.

If you already have a ULBS MyAccount you must configure your computer or device using the instructions below, depending on the operating system you are using.

Warning: Before performing the steps below, check if you have the latest version of drivers (from the manufacturer's website) installed for your wireless device/network card.

Desktop systems

Supported Windows

Windows 10 / 11 systems connect directly to the eduroam network using the MyAccount email account and password

MacOSX

iOS systems connect directly to the eduroam network using the MyAccount email account and password

MacOSX (lower versions)

  1. Download and unzipsetup package for MacOSX.
  2. Op[en the files:
    • ulbs-unsigned-wifiemail.mobileconfig (for wireless configuration with ULBS email)
    • ulbs-unsigned-wifionly.mobileconfig (for wireless configuration without ULBS email)
  3. Click "Continue"

Mobile devices

Windows Phone

iOS

iOS devices connect directly to the eduroam network using the MyAccount email account and password

iOS (lower versions)

  1. Browser (from Safari on iPhone):
  2. Press "Install", accept the installation of the certificate ("Install Now")

Android

  1. The exact configuration may differ from phone to phone.
  2. Select Settings.
    • Select Wireless networks.
    • Select Wifi Settings.
    • Select eduroam.
    • Select EAP type: TTLS.
    • Select Phase 2 Authentication: ignore or select GTC or MSCHAPv2
    • Select CA Certificate: Do not validate
    • Enter your MyAccount username and password

ULBS - Wireless

  • In some locations you also have a ULBS_Wireless access point that does not require you to configure your device. The disadvantages of using this type of connection are:
    1. The connection is not encrypted
    2. You must log in every time you want to use the wireless service in the window that appears when you first start the browser you are using.
